Steve Stanton Sacked (Again) Council Upholds Previous Vote, Lawsuit Possible

Officials in Largo, Florida again voted to dismiss city manager Steve Stanton. Stanton shot to national fame after the St. Petersburg Times revealed the fourteen year city council veteran planned to become a woman.Following the revelation, Stanton’s peers voted 5-2 to terminate his tenure. Outraged by the blatant discrimination, Stanton appealed. As part of the process, hundreds gathered Friday to either defend or denounce Stanton’s decision, including Stanton himself. He told the commission:
What I am asking for is for you to give me a chance to show you I can do the job. Dealing with Susan will be no different than dealing with Steve. Look past the gender issue and judge me as the same person I was four weeks ago.
Apparently they couldn’t, because not one of the council’s members altered their vote. Stanton’s detractors cited “trust” as an issue. Andy Guyette insisted: “Without trust, there’s no longer a foundation for any relationship.”Stanton has not yet said whether he will file a wrongful discrimination suit against the city, but he did tell reporters that he’s distraught over the decision:

UK gay men flout anti-surrogacy laws

As reported by PinkNews.co.uk earlier this month, The Fertility Institute, a clinic in Los Angeles, has started running a programme where male couples pay for eggs from a university student to be implanted in another woman, often from a working-class background, who carries the child.
The sperm comes from one of the gay men.
It is illegal to pay both surrogate mothers and egg donors in Britain.
The Fertility Institute also enables couples to choose the sex of the child, which is also illegal in the UK and nearly every other Western nation.
So far, around three-quarters of couples have opted for male babies.
The programme is the first surrogacy scheme that accommodates two-father families.

Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama tried to duck the questions that Pace’s bigotry raised, confirming what gay people know: that there is not one candidate running for public office anywhere who dares to come right out, unequivocally, and say decent, supportive things about us.
Gays should not vote for any of them. There is not a candidate or major public figure who would not sell gays down the river. We have seen this time after time, even from supposedly progressive politicians such as President Clinton with his “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy on gays in the military and his support of the hideous Defense of Marriage Act. Of course, it’s possible that being shunned by gays will make politicians more popular, but at least we will have our self-respect. To vote for them is to collude with them in their utter disdain for us.
